The following individuals have given their endorsement and support to Carolyn in her campaign for the Kalamazoo County Commission for District 1:

I'm voting for Carolyn G. Alford on Nov. 6. She is the best choice for Kalamazoo County District 1. If you live in District 1, please join me in supporting Alford. Her experience is needed on the new, smaller Kalamazoo County Board of Commissioners

The relationships she built up while a school board member have been sources of perspective which is important as our community strives to maximize the Kalamazoo Promise opportunities for our kids. Yes, there is a relationship between county services such as Head Start, housing, mental health and law enforcement and how well our kids can maximize the Kalamazoo Promise.

Alford makes connections with lots of different people and in lots of places in Kalamazoo. She has shown us her compassion and translated it into decision making on the Board of Commissioners.

Alford is the best choice in Kalamazoo County District 1. Vote for Alford in the primary on Nov. 6 to keep her on the ballot in November. Your primary vote is really important this time.

MARY BROWN/Kalamazoo

I strongly urge fellow Democrats in Carolyn Alford’s county commission district to vote for her in the upcoming primary.

And then, after the primary, I strongly urge those in her district to vote for her in the general election in November.

Alford is the ideal county legislator. She is smart. She listens well. She has been long engaged in the whole community, both through her many nonprofit volunteer activities and in elected positions in the county and in education. She is a very empathetic person, and she senses almost immediately where people are coming from and can relate easily to their issues and problems. She certainly understands the complex issues before us as a county and she is an optimistic and happy person, so she sees and feels a better future for us all.

Vote for Alford, and vote for a good future.

I have been chair of Caroline G. Alford's campaign for six months. I don't put my time and energy into people or projects that I don't strongly believe in. I believe in Alford.

Alford is the best candidate for the Kalamazoo County Board of Commissioners seat. She holds a high standard for herself and expects the same from others. She does her homework, she's committed and compassionate.

I urge you to vote for Alford on Nov. 6.

I am writing in support of Carolyn Alford. Alford has proved over the years her genuine concern for Kalamazoo County and it's citizens. My late husband Rep. Robert B. Jones was one of her strongest supporters. As the county advances into as many crucial challenges as it has ever faced, vote for someone who understands. Please vote for Carolyn Alford, I am.

I am writing in support of Carolyn Alford as she seeks election to the 1st district seat on the Kalamazoo County Board of Commissioners.

I have known Alford for many years and have had the opportunity to serve with her on community nonprofit boards of directors. I have always found her to be thoughtful, thorough and well prepared as we deliberated crucial issues facing our service organizations. These are assets that have served her well and will be essential as she tackles the issues facing Kalamazoo County.

I urge the electorate to vote for Alford as the representative of the 1st district.

In our representative form of government, we elect candidates we believe will represent the best interests of ourselves individually and our community. In the Kalamazoo County Board of Commissioners District 1, that person is Carolyn Alford.

In her six years on the County Board of Commissioners and her several terms on the Kalamazoo Public School Board, Alford has been an outstanding public servant. She is involved with her constituents, listens to their concerns and seeks their ideas for solutions to the challenges we face.

Alford’s interests are our interests – economic development that leads to well-paying work and economic independence for families; safe and stable neighborhoods; and better collaborations among the elected bodies in the county.

We have benefited from Alford’s effective presence on the county commission for the last six years. The primary election on Nov. 6 will decide if she will be on the ballot in the fall. I urge the voters in District 1 to vote for Alford.

JANET M. JONES/Kalamazoo

During that time, she worked diligently to make sure that every Kalamazoo public school student received the best possible educational opportunities.

Since serving on the school board, Alford has been elected to the County Board of Commissioners three times. She is continually re-elected to office, because she cares deeply about the well being of Kalamazoo County residents. I do not hesitate to endorse her for a fourth term as a Kalamazoo County Commissioner.

I have always found her to be intelligent, informed, committed to our entire community and the reasonable voice often needed in the room. I urge you to vote for her in the Nov. 6 primary for the Kalamazoo County Board of Commissioners 1st District.

I have had the privilege of working with Carolyn Alford for the past 15 years during her political career. When we met, she was an elected official for the Kalamazoo Public Schools Board of Education. Since then, she has worked diligently as a County Commissioner.

Because there is a change in the commission wards, she is running again for a seat on the county commission.

During each of these appointments, I have found Carolyn to be a great steward of the community and its youth. She is honest, open and does her homework. She acts with just the right amount of passion and knowledge and she represents the community interest in all that she does.

I have no doubt that her work will continue as a member of the county commission; this platform is so well suited to ways that she can advocate for us. Her appointment is wholeheartedly supported and I look forward to my continued work with Carolyn in her advocacy and support for Kalamazoo County.

Carolyn Alford is a hard worker and woman of integrity. She is genuinely concerned about people and she understands the issues in her district. She is committed to helping others and working for the good of our county.
She should strongly be considered and supported for another term for the Kalamazoo County Board of Commissioners 1st District.
DENISE L. POSIE/ Kalamazoo

Alford has been a voice of reason, leadership and compassion on the board.
She has been a champion of responsible government that has a positive impact on our citizens. I hope that you will join me in voting to re-elect Alford to the county board.

I support Carolyn Alford for Kalamazoo County Commissioner. She has dedicated her life for the past 20 years to making sure all residents are given an opportunity to participate in the decision-making process. As a member of the Kalamazoo Board of Education, she constantly encouraged parents to get involved with their children’s school.
In her role as a county commissioner she reaches out to citizens and other elected officials and asks them what she can do to make Kalamazoo a better place to live.

Kalamazoo County Board Commissioner Carolyn Alford is a genuine, sincere and dedicated person in all that she does in representing the people in her district. She has the ability to master new concepts, ideas and really enjoys the challenge that change offers.

On Nov. 6, I wholeheartedly support and strongly recommend voting for Alford for a brighter outlook.

This letter is to express support for the re-election of Carolyn Alford to the Kalamazoo County Board of Commission.

Carolyn has dedicated her time and talents to public service for more than 20 years as a Kalamazoo Public School Board member and Board President, member of the board of Communities in Schools of Kalamazoo, NAACP and other boards and committees.

Carolyn brings a quiet thoughtfulness to the policy and decision making process — qualities which are to be commended in a political environment often filled with over-heated rhetoric which leads to gridlock rather than problem solving.

The citizens of Kalamazoo County will continue to be well served by the re-election of Carolyn Alford to the Kalamazoo County Board of Commission.

I was on the Kalamazoo Public Schools Board of Education when we chose Carolyn Alford to fill out the unexpired term of Duane Roberts. I have worked with Carolyn in one capacity or another since then.

Carolyn is a person of integrity. She stands up for her convictions. She does not let the important questions go unanswered.

She has a strong sense of responsibility for how money is spent, along with an ability to ensure that funds are accounted for.

Carolyn Alford represents an important point of view in our community, and we need her to continue in office as a Kalamazoo County Commissioner.

GEORGE T. MARTIN/Kalamazoo, president of The Arcadia Institute
